The Belmond-Klemme girls (6-5, 3-5 TIC-West) fell 68-46 at #4 (1A) Bishop Garrigan in conference on Tuesday. The Broncos share the ball well on offense with 12 assists per game. Adasyn Lamb with 15.9 points, and Quinn Gabrielson with 13 points per game, propel the team.
B-K Head Coach James Severson on the leadership of this year’s five seniors.
“Experience is just something you can’t coach and you can’t teach it. They’ve been there, they’ve done it and they know what it’s like,” says Severson. “We get to timeouts, we get to practices and there’s just people kind of directing traffic and making sure that everybody’s going to the right place at the right time. They also talk through skills and where they need to be. It’s a huge advantage to have them in our court.”
The Lake Mills girls (7-5, 6-3 TIC-West) won 44-37 over West Hancock in conference on Tuesday. The Bulldogs limit opponents to an average of 41 points per game. Cora Sauer leads the team with 17.6 points per game.
The Belmond-Klemme boys (7-5, 5-4 TIC-West) lost a competitive game at first place Bishop Garrigan 61-54 on Tuesday. The Broncos earn extra possessions with 11 offensive rebounds per game. Brody Heifner with 16 points and Kysen Lamb with 14.7 points per game lead the team.
Broncos Head Coach Justin Meyer on the best start for the Broncos since the 2013-2014 season (7-1)
“It’s not like they’re playing out of their minds right now. They’re playing very well. This is definitely what they’re capable of,” says Meyer. “It’s good as a coach to have these guys still be as young as they are, that we’ve got this season into next season, a whole another year’s worth of growth. Over the summer, all of those guys put in tremendous amount of time in the weight room. They put in a tremendous amount of time in other sports. They put in a tremendous amount of time at open gyms. This is just a testament to the work that they’re putting in.”
The Lake Mills boys (8-3, 6-3, TIC-West) won 64-41 over West Hancock in conference on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are balanced on offense 20 assists per game. Kane Koch leads with 15 points per game and knocks down the three at 41.9 percent.
Coverage on 104.9 KLMJ will begin just after 6:05 p.m. followed by the opening tip at 6:15 p.m. in Lake Mills.
