Clarksville Basketball Visits Butler County Rival North Butler on Monday

The Clarksville girls and boys basketball teams will take on Butler County Rival North Butler in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, on 99 The Wave. The Clarksville girls won 31-28 and the Clarksville boys won 56-46 last season.

The Clarksville girls (7-4) won 55-46 at home over Janesville in conference play on Friday. The Indians challenge opponents to be strong with the basketball forcing 17 steals per game. Paige Kampman paces the team with 23 points per game at 40.3% from the field. Hannah Wangsness is the top rebounder with 11 per game.

“An intense game. A lot of families know each other, we’re right down the road from Greene. It’s always heated. It’s always fun. It’s always exciting. You never know what you’re going to get. It doesn’t matter what the records are. It doesn’t matter how you’ve played up to that point. It’s going to be intense,” says Timmermans. “We’ve got to be ready to go. It’s going to be an extra challenge because we don’t have school on Monday. When you’re out of a rhythm, you never know what you’re going to get either. It’s a county rivalry, it’s always fun.”

The North Butler girls (2-9) has lost two straight including a 61-35 loss at home to #14 (1A) Newman Catholic in conference on Friday. The Bearcats have had success on the offensive boards with 10 rebounds per game. Zoey Thompson averages 10.7 points per game and Eden Wix adds 9.1 rebounds per game.

North Butler Head Coach Jordan Nolz on facing Clarksville to lead off a four game week.

“We’re interested in that game. They got two really good players, Kampman and Wangsness. It’ll be nice to see how we can compete with them and match up. We’re excited for the game,” says Nolz. “The season’s gonna fly by in a blink of an eye now with all these games coming up. Hopefully we can make the most of them, improve along the way, have some fun, and hopefully compete in most of those games.”

The Clarksville boys (3-9) lost 68-43 at home to Janesville on Friday. The Indians offense runs inside the perimeter at 37.5 percent from the field. Sam Hoodjer with 21 points and John Stauffer adds 14 points per game as the Indians top scorers.

The North Butler boys (3-10) has lost four straight including a 70-34 loss at home to Newman Catholic on Friday. The Bearcats are balanced offensively through 9.3 assists per game. Ryan Austin puts up 10 points and 7.4 rebounds per game to lead Bearcats.
