Tuesday the Iowa Transportation Commission approved over 4-million dollars in total funding for eight statewide Transportation Alternatives Set-aside Program projects.

The program supports projects that will have a statewide or multi-regional impact, expand the state’s multi-modal transportation system, enhance tourism, and provides safe routes to school.

The Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments will receive $283,482 for the Iowa Safe Routes Partnership program.  This program is designed to enable and encourage children, including those with disabilities, to walk and bicycle to school.

The Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments covers several counties including Butler and Grundy in the broadcast area.
