
The identity of the driver killed in a car versus train accident yesterday just before 11am in Hardin County has been released.
The Iowa State Patrol was called out on the report of a car versus train accident along 290th Street between “E” and “F” Avenues in Hardin County, or southeast of Radcliffe. A 2021 Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on 290th Street and failed to yield to a northbound train at the railroad crossing. The front of the train made contact with the rear passenger side of the car. The driver, identified as 71-year-old Kathaleen Houck of Radcliffe, was taken by Life Flight to Des Moines Methodist Hospital and later died.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
