The Clarksville basketball teams will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Tripoli for an Iowa Star Conference-North doubleheader. It’ll air on 104.9 KLMJ.

The Clarksville boys (3-12, 2-8 IS-N) will look to snap a four-game losing streak, but built momentum in Friday’s 72-69 loss to Riceville. That night, Sam Hoodjer had a career night of 36 points and 12 rebounds, along with 20 points by John Stauffer. Head Coach Jonah Woodward says Tuesday’s game is an opportunity for a win against a team in a similar scenario as the Indians.

“I’ve been very impressed with Tripoli’s coaching staff and their players,” Woodward says. “When I look at them on film, game to game, they’re in a similar boat as us in terms of win-loss record wise. They do a great job of just going in night in and night out, competing and getting better. They have an individual player, Tyler Bruns, I’ve been very impressed with. And I’ve just been impressed with their coaching staff in general, just how much better their kids have gotten from game one until now. So we’re really looking forward to the opportunity to go up to Tripoli and play against a well-coached team with kids that play very hard. And it’s gonna be a great contest for us.”

Tripoli (2-14, 1-9 IS-N) will look to bounce back from a 30-turnover performance in Friday’s 91-33 loss to Dunkerton. The Indians won 69-47 when the teams met in December.

Coming off a 38-27 loss to #5 (1A) Riceville Friday, the Clarksville girls will look to stay in the top half of the conference standings with a win, currently half a game behind Dunkerton for second place. Tripoli hasn’t defeated a conference opponent since December, with the only two happening against teams near the bottom of the standings.

Coverage will start at 6:20 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:30.
