The Worth County Board of Supervisors Monday voted 2-1 to pass a zoning ordinance that creates a half mile separation distance between residents and Summit Carbon Solutions’ proposed CO2 pipeline.
This ordinance comes after local Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement members and residents submitted over 400 petition signatures and attended numerous public meetings.
The ordinance was originally drafted by the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission in the fall of last year.
Other ordinances in Iowa have been challenged by Summit in court.
