The AP/GC boys wrestling team swept a home triangular, Dike-New Hartford went 0-2 and Wapsie Valley went 1-1 Tuesday. The Falcons beat Wapsie Valley 43-42 and Dike-New Hartford 40-34. The Wolverines fell to the Warriors 51-24.
Against Wapsie Valley, AP/GC got pins by Maison Copp at 190, Jesse Brouwer at 215 and Carter Liston at 126. Wapsie Valley had seven pins and four open weight classes to tie the score. But the Falcons got the edge in the tiebreaking criteria due to the number of wins by forfeit.
Dike-New Hartford had three wins by forfeit and a pin by Conner Weedman at 113 against Wapsie Valley, which were the only team points in the dual.
Dike-New Hartford won seven of the 12 contested matches against AP/GC, but had two open weight classes. AP/GC had pins by Liston at 132, Parker Mulder at 165, Hunter McBride at 190 and Copp at 215. Jesse Brouwer won a 10-1 major decision at 285. The Wolverines got pins by Conner Weedman at 113, Kaizin Eberhart at 138, Gavin Gerbracht at 157 and Bryce Bass at 175. Dax Weedman won a 17-6 major decision at 144, James Wingert won a 12-7 decision at 126 and Kael Jones won a 9-5 decision at 150.
Both teams will return to action at Saturday’s NICL Tournament at AP/GC on 99 The Wave.
