The Iowa Falls-Alden boys wrestling team went 3-0 at a home quad Thursday in its final home competition of the season, as aired on 99 The Wave. The Cadets beat Nevada 51-30, Ogden 51-24 and Roland-Story 37-33.
Against Nevada, the Cadets got pins by Kyler Patton at 144, Trevor Bailey at 215, Zane Gillespie at 106 and Sam Robinson at 132. Tate Ziesman won a 12-6 decision at 157, and the team had four wins by forfeit.
In the dual with Ogden, the Cadets had seven pins, including by Gillespie at 106, Kolbe Hansen at 113, Robinson at 132, Keaton Mulford at 150, Drake Sanders at 165, Brooks Hickman at 190 and Bailey at 215. They had decisions by Patton at 144, Jag Jass at 175 and Trayvahn Williams at 285.
Against Roland-Story, the Cadets had pins by Ziesman at 157, Sanders at 165 and Williams at 285. Mulford at 150 and Bailey at 215 won decisions. Gillespie at 106 and Patton at 144 won major decisions, and Hansen won a technical fall at 113.
“Obviously it’s great anytime you go 3-0 on a night, get three more dual meet wins,” Head Coach Scott Patton says. “The last one like kind of came down on the wire a little closer than maybe what we expected coming in. But that’s good for your kids too, to battle through some of those tough duals, tough matches and still come out on top. It says a lot about our guys, never quit and kept going.”
Gillespie, Patton, Mulford and Bailey each went 4-0.
The Cadets will return to action Thursday, February 6 at a triangular at East Marshall.
