Work continues on the Reborn Ranch Camp located on the north side of Hampton.

The first camp will be held beginning June 8th with 13 and 14-year-old males taking part.

Derek Segerstrom is the camp director.

“In the afternoons we’re going to spend, you know, really working on building things. It could be bird houses. It could be changing tires. It could be taking care of the property. One of the things that we’re intending to do. So over the course of the summer, I mean, we’ll have a hundred youth there. So some of those projects that around the ranch, we’re going to run out of things to do. And so the idea would be to go out in the community and be doing, you know, maybe it’s acreage that somebody can’t really take care of anymore. That’s all part of it where we’ll be out, you know, whether it’s trimming trees or weeding or whatever.”

The camp has eight horses, including a new addition.

“Little pony named River who was a little troublemaker. And then Tonka who’s just been donated a lady by the name of Tammy over in Clarksville. She really felt that God was leading her to donate him to Reborn Ranch. Gentle giant. He weighs about 1,300 pounds. All the horses, I mean, we’re gonna, one of the work crews is all creatures great and small, and so even if you’ve never had any horse experience, we have some that are super gentle, be able to, youth that have really not had any exposure, horses will be able to be around them and learn and learn how to take care of ’em.”
