This week the Thornton City Council discussed the theft of license plates being taken off of vehicles and trailers across the community.
The city clerk spoke with Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Dave Hepperly on this matter, and he says deputies will be patrolling more often later in the day to help with this issue.
In other business, the Thornton council voted to waive the 3 percent increase on garbage and sewer charges, but there will be a 3 percent increase on water and storm sewer charges due to a water main project loan.
The Thornton City Council also approved 3 percent pay increases for public works and the city clerk.
