North Butler Basketball to Host Osage to Leadoff Regular Season Ending Homestand on Thursday

The North Butler girls and boys basketball teams will host Osage for the second meeting in just over a week in Top of Iowa Conference East play. The Osage girls won 57-22 and the boys won 71-27 in the first meeting on Tuesday, January 28.

The North Butler girls (3-15, 2-10 TIC-East) have lost four straight games including a 58-22 loss at West Fork in conference on Tuesday. The Bearcats during the losing slide have been challenged offensively, scoring 27 points or less in each game. The Bearcats put in extra effort on the offensive board with 9.5 rebounds per game. Zoey Thompson leads with 10 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

“We just played them in a game without half our team, it was hard to get a gauge. We’re excited for the rematch against Osage where we can meet with them, match up more with our starters and their starters and full teams. They had a couple of sick girls too,” says Nolz. “We’re trying not to look at the score from the first matchup because it’s not really an accurate representation. We’re really looking forward to getting the rematch with them, coming out and competing against them.”

The Osage girls (7-10, 4-7 TIC-East) have lost two games in a row including a 49-21 loss to Nashua-Plainfield in conference on January 31. The Green Devils bring pressure with 10 steals per game. Addison Marcks averages a double-double with 13.9 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

The North Butler boys (6-13, 4-8 TIC-East) have lost three games in a row including a 41-34 loss to West Fork in conference on Tuesday. The Bearcats have shot the ball well from the field at 39.6 percent. Ryan Austin leads the team with 10.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

The Osage boys (13-4, 9-2 TIC-East) has won six of their last seven, including a 52-29 win over Nashua-Plainfield on January 31. The Green Devils offensive efficiency runs through 14 assists per game. Quinn Street leads with 18.6 points per game.

Action begins at 6:15 p.m. in Greene.
