The city council in Grundy Center this week set March 3rd to hold a public hearing on the city’s proposed maximum property tax levy of $16.46 per one thousand dollars of assessed property value for the fiscal year 2026 budget.
The Grundy Center council set a public hearing for February 17th on an ordinance amendment that would raise the residential garbage and recycling fee to $15 per month, an increase of $1 a month.
This is based on an increase from Rite Environmental, Incorporated.
In addition, Grundy Center Public Works Director Dan Bangasser explained that this fiscal year will mostly pay down debt, build reserves and start planning for the next projects.
