The #14 (2A) Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys wrestling team went 4-0 and the Iowa Falls-Alden boys went 0-4 to conclude their regular season slates at Steve Deike duals hosted by the Bulldogs on Saturday.
H-D-CAL’s undefeated outing included a 42-33 win over Marshalltown, a 65-9 win over Forest City, a 61-14 win over Ames and a 44-27 win against Central Springs. The Bulldogs four wins matched a season best 4-0 performance at Norsemen dual tournament hosted by Roland-Story on Saturday, February 1. Four Bulldogs kept a perfect record on the day including Luke Showalter at 120 (two falls, a tech fall and decision), Charlie Showalter at 132 (three falls and tech fall), Taylor Mahler at 157 (fall, two tech falls and win by forfeit) and Brody Robertson at 215 (two falls, sudden victory and major decision). Three Bulldogs only suffered one loss, including Madox Strother at 106, William Vosburg at 126 and Colin Bird at 165.
Iowa Falls-Alden lost 53-22 to Forest City, had a down to the wire 38-33 loss to Ames, fell 45-26 to Central Springs and lost 50-27 to Marshalltown. Three Cadets went undefeated including Kolbe Hansen at 113 (fall and three tech falls), Trevor Bailey at 215 (two falls, tech fall and decision) and Trayvahn Williams at 285 (three falls and a win by forfeit). Kolbe Hansen at 150 had only one loss, to finish the day at 3-1.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL (26-8) and Iowa Falls-Alden (14-10) will both prepare for Class 2A District 5 state qualifying tournament at Clear Lake on Saturday, February 15.
