The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys basketball team will travel to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows for a North Central Conference game Tuesday, which’ll air on 104.9 KLMJ.
The Bulldogs (4-15, 2-10 NCC) will look to bounce back from a two-game losing streak, which included Friday’s 70-58 loss at Algona. That night, they won the second half and shot 56 percent, but squandered opportunities with 26 turnovers. Head Coach Brian Niesen hopes to reverse the result of a 63-54 loss to the Cowboys earlier in the season.
“It was a tight game with about three minutes left, and they hit a couple clutch threes,” Niesen says. “That’s one that our kids should be really excited to go get. That’s always a fun rivalry game, conference game, and we don’t want to get swept by them, so that’s a huge one.”
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (6-14, 2-11 NCC) will enter their final conference game on a six-game losing streak. On Friday, they made just one three-pointer in the 50-44 loss at Webster City.
“It was really competitive the last time, and we expect that every time that we play them,” Head Coach Jason Berning says. “Very hard-nosed team, and they have some skill and they’ve gotten better over the course of the season. They’ve beaten Iowa Falls-Alden twice. We struggled with them a few times. So it says something about their team, that they’ve gone out and beat them a couple times and they’ve played some competitive basketball against other teams. Brady Harr’s a force to deal with. The biggest kid that we’ll face all year long and he can score, he can rebound, he can pass, and he just makes everybody around him better. So, definitely a challenge in our final conference game.”
Coverage will start at 7:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 7:15.
