Belmond-Klemme Girls Basketball to Host Central Springs In 2A Playoff Opener Saturday

The Belmond-Klemme girls basketball team will defend their home floor against Central Springs in a Class 2A Region 6 first round matchup on Saturday. The Broncos won 52-30 in an early season meeting on December 9.

Belmond-Klemme (11-10) concluded the regular season with a 67-42 loss at #4 (3A) Forest City on Tuesday. The ball doesn’t rest when the Broncos are on offense averaging 49.8 points per game with 12.4 assists. Adasyn Lamb with 16.6 points and Quinn Gabrielson with 14.6 points per game help the Broncos gallop ahead of opponents.

Broncos Head Coach James Severson on full court offense and containing the Panther’s Kaci Crum.

“The first time we played them transition was huge for us. I think it’s going to be huge for us again. We’ll probably put a lot of defensive pressure and focus on trying to stop Kaci Crum for them. She’s their leading scorer and their offensive realm revolves around her. She’ll be a main point of focus but we can’t forget about the outside shooters and got to cover them as well,” says Severson. “Focusing on making sure that everybody’s in the right position and taking the right steps to be positive to the end of the season here.”

Central Springs (10-11) concluded the regular season with a 55-34 loss to #15 (2A) West Fork on Tuesday. The Panthers have been in a lot of low scoring defensive battles this season, averaging 39 points per game and holding opponents to an average of 38 points per game. Kaci Crum fuels the Panthers with 17 points and 13 rebounds per game.

Action begins at 7:00 p.m. in Belmond. The winner will travel to West Fork for a regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
