The Iowa Falls-Alden girls basketball team will begin the postseason by hosting Osage in a 3A Region 6 quarterfinal.

The Cadets (9-12) closed the regular season with Tuesday’s 51-39 loss at Clear Lake, and will enter the playoffs on a three-game losing streak. Looking to continue her standout freshman season, Elody England leads the team with 12 points per game for a team that finds roughly half its offense from three-point range. Head Coach Michael Collison on the matchup with Osage.

“Their school and their kids have had lots of success in sports, and they’re playing a lot of young kids this year,” Collison says. “I think their record is kind of deceptive because they’ve played well in games and just, if those kids are a year older, they probably win some of those closer games. They’ve got a really good kind of a post player, but can also play on the perimeter. Number 13, Addison Marcks, she’s a really good player. I mean, she’s averaging a double double with 14 points and 10 boards. She’s someone that we’re going to have to really try to limit what she does well, and it’s hard because she does a lot of things well. They’ve got some nice role players and some good guards.”

Osage (9-11) is coming off their first sub-.500 season in the Bound era. Addison Marcks leads with 13.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game on 46 percent shooting.

The winner will advance to Wednesday’s regional semifinal against either #11 (3A) Hampton-Dumont-CAL or Clear Lake. The tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
