Franklin County Emergency Management Coordinator Joel McWIlliams has the following advice for those who will be going outdoors the next couple of days, including traveling by vehicle, in the bitter cold.

“Just make sure you bundle up. It sometimes can creep up on you pretty quick how cold it actually is. Layers are important. Making sure you have a plan to get indoors quickly if you do need to get indoors. Make sure your cell phones are always charged. We have that convenience nowadays. But having a safety blanket to keep you warm, the whole kit to make sure that if you do go in the ditch that you’re able to stay comfortable in case there is severe weather with it and you’re able to stay put for a little while.”

That’s Franklin County Emergency Management Coordinator Joel McWilliams.
