
The Clarksville girls basketball team will look to defeat fellow Iowa Star Conference North member Dunkerton, for the first time since 2023 when the programs meet in a Class 1A Region 5 quarterfinal on Tuesday. The Raiders won the first two meetings this season 49-34 on December 17 and 39-35 on January 31.
Clarksville (14-9) has won two games in a row including a 61-32 win over Starmont in the first round of regional action on Thursday, February 13. The Clarksville defense has been a game changer since opening day, holding opponents to an average of 39.8 points per game and tracking down 15 steals per game. Paige Kampman leads with 22 points per game. Hannah Wangsness is the team’s top rebounder with 11.5 boards per game.
Clarksville Head Coach Ross Timmermans on the passion the team plays with regardless of opponent.
“This team is so much fun to coach. They have been all year. They play with passion every single game. They’re diving on the floor for loose balls. They’re boxing out,” says Timmermans. “They’re outmatched size-wise every single game. They just keep battling. Really looking forward to Tuesday and seeing what they bring.”
Dunkerton (14-7) has won six games in a row including a 68-50 win over Baxter in their regular season finale on February 8. The Raiders assist their offense with more possessions with 18 steals per game. Kylee Pexa leads with 16 points per game at 47.1 percent shooting from the field.
