
The Grundy Center girls basketball team defeated Alburnett 58-40 in Tuesday’s 2A regional quarterfinal.
After a back-and-forth start, the Spartans built an eight-point halftime lead at 26-18. They scored the first eight points of the third quarter, and went in front by double digits for the first time. They played the rest of the game with a comfortable advantage and closed out their home schedule in style.
Karlee Lynch led with 17 points, Kali Aldrich had 11 and Ava Mundt added 10.
The Spartans (15-7) have advanced to Friday’s regional semifinal at #4 (2A) North Mahaska.
