
The #14 (2A) West Fork girls basketball team never trailed to win their home finale, 67-50 over Sioux Central in a Class 2A Region 6 semifinal on Friday. The Warhawks with the win advanced to a regional final for the third time in the last four seasons and first since 2023.
West Fork sprinted out to a 20-7 lead to open the game, Sioux Central trimmed the lead to 22-15 by the end of first quarter. The Warhawks led by as many as 12 points at 39-27 just before the half. Milliseconds ahead of the halftime buzzer the Rebels hit a triple, to cut the Warhawks lead to 39-30 at the half. At the start of the fourth, West Fork led 52-44. The Warhawks led 54-48 with 5:25 to go. The Warhawks earned some breathing room from that point with on-ball pressure, to hold the Rebels to two points for the remainder of the game. West Fork attacked the rim offensively in the quarter, to go up by as many as 17 points to secure advancement.
Leah Weaver had 28 points and Karma McMorris added 10 to help the Warhawks soar.
West Fork (20-3) will take on Central Lyon in the Class 2A Region 6 Final on Wednesday on 104.9 KLMJ, for a berth to the state tournament.
