
Six local wrestlers earned medals in Class 2A at Saturday’s medal rounds of the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.
Kolbe Hansen of Iowa Falls-Alden placed fourth at 113. He started the day in the consolation semifinals with a 10-5 decision over Bryce Oostenink of Sioux Center. In the third place match, he dropped a 7-1 decision to Cael McCabe of Fairfield.
North Butler-Clarksville’s Carl Shew placed seventh at 113. In the seventh place match, he won a 6-5 decision over Quinn Arellano of Van Meter.
Linden Phetxoumphone of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed fourth at 120. In the consolation semifinal, he won a 6-3 decision over Jon Gonzalez of West Marshall. He lost a 1-0 decision to Mitchell Schmauss of Crestwood in the third place match.
CGD’s Adrian Phetxoumphone placed seventh at 126. In the seventh place match, he defeated Jesse Jens of Harlan in a 7-1 decision.
CGD’s Charlie Campbell placed seventh at 175. He won a 5-3 decision over Blake Mather of West Delaware in the seventh place match.
Iowa Falls-Alden’s Trevor Bailey placed seventh at 215. His opponent medically forfeited out of the seventh place match.
