A former Hampton-Dumont girls’ soccer coach and paraeducator originally charged with having a sexual relationship with a student was sentenced to a lesser charge Monday.
29-year-old Ismael Rodriguez Torres was originally charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, a class “D” felony, when he was arrested in January of 2023.
However, he later entered a written guilty plea to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor.
Rodriguez Torres was sentenced to 360 days in jail, but that was suspended, fined $430, and placed on 2 years of probation.
