Parkersburg native and Indian Hills Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Cole Spree has been inducted into the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
In his fifth season at the helm of the Indian Hills program, Spree’s legacy in junior college wrestling has spanned nearly two decades as both a student-athlete and coach. Spree joined Indian Hills Community College in 2019 to start both the men’s and women’s wrestling programs and has spearheaded both squads to national prominence ever since.
Spree spent his first four seasons in Centerville guiding both the men’s and women’s programs to historic success in unprecedented pace. The women’s program has captured four consecutive national championships, including back-to-back NJCAA National Invitational Champions. On the men’s side, the Warriors have captured three consecutive top-10 finishes at the national championship while ascending to new heights during the 2024-25 campaign.
An NJCAA All-American as a student-athlete at Ellsworth Community College in 2007, Spree completed his collegiate career at Northwestern College where he was a two-time national qualifier before joining the coaching ranks.
Spree took the helm of the newly-minted Indian Hills wrestling program in 2019 and has not looked back since. The women’s program has captured 58 All-Americans, including 13 individual national champions. The men’s program has secured two NJCAA North Central District Championships, including the 2025 title to go along with 18 NJCAA All-Americans.
