Dike-New Hartford senior Colin Meester closed his high school basketball career as the program’s all-time career assist leader. His 149 assists this season brought his career total to 436, which happened a few weeks after he recorded his 1,000th career point.
Head Coach Alex Tagtow says it’s a remarkable accomplishment for one of the program’s all-time greats.
“Really special, I think is the best way to put it,” Tagtow says. “There are guys that score a lot of points, there are guys that have a lot of assists, to have both is not something you see a ton. So really proud of him, really, really special accomplishment. I think he’s second all-time in scoring is where it’s going to settle out here, which is also a pretty great accomplishment. So I can’t say enough great things about Colin, just about what he’s meant to me and what he’s meant to the program and what he’s meant to the school.”
Meester finished his career with 1,202 points, 454 of which happened this season. He was the team’s leading scorer during his junior and senior seasons, and never missed a game throughout his career.
The Wolverines went 13-11.
