Three program building seniors for Clarksville boys basketball played their final game in a Class 1A District 4 quarterfinal loss to Janesville on Monday, February 17. Those three seniors were Sam Hoodjer, John Stauffer and Peter Kielman.

Sam Hoodjer scored 1,039 points in his career, one of just four Indians to achieve the 1,000 point mark. He scored a season best 513 this year. He also is leaving second in school history in career assists (205), blocks (146) and steals (167).

Clarksville Head Coach Jonah Woodward on a milestone season for Hoodjer.

“Obviously graduating a player like Sam, he’s gonna go down as one of the best Clarksville Boys basketball players. In my opinion, the best Clarksville Boys basketball player to ever leave this program. Individually, what he did this season has never been done at Clarksville,” says Woodward. “Everybody talks about him as a basketball player, but we’re hoping to see him play at the next level. He’s got some schools interested in him. I think he’s ready to take that next step.”

John Stauffer scored 515 points in his career and added 262 rebounds.

Woodward on the leadership and drive of Stauffer.

“He was just the heart and soul of the team. At the all-conference meeting, every coach just talked about how hard John Stauffer played. If there was a kid to kind of represent and embody what Clarksville is all about, I think that would be John Stauffer. That’s just one of the things we talked about after the game. He was the best leader on the team, vocally, and by showing the younger guys how the grind and daily work is supposed to be done.”

Peter Kielman only played in seven games this season, but showed it’s about more than just minutes on the floor.

Woodward on the great teammate Kielman was this season.

“He didn’t play a lot this year, except for on senior night. You want to talk about just a phenomenal multi-sport athlete, student athlete, just a great kid. You couldn’t ask for a better friend than Peter Kielman. Somebody that loves, cares, and accepts everybody on the team, is going to stand up for them and go to bat for them.”

Clarksville concluded its season at 5-18.
