The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Bureau’s 2024 Prosecutor of the Year award was presented to Hardin County Attorney Darrell Meyer.
DNR officials say Meyer consistently supports natural resource law enforcement by taking time to individually discuss cases with local conservation officers, provide input and give unique legal perspective to conservation related crimes.
In the last year, Meyer has seen through to conviction multiple wildlife cases ranging from use of bait to harvest deer, hunting with the aid of motor vehicles, trespass, and on three in depth and difficult cases.
Those included a multi-year timber theft case, an illegal ginseng harvest case, and a nighttime fatal hunting incident.
