The Iowa Falls-Alden boys wrestling team recently finished a remarkable postseason, where they had four state tournament qualifiers. It was the most qualifiers in a season by the program since 2020.

In Class 2A, freshman Kolbe Hansen placed fourth at 113 and senior Trevor Bailey placed seventh at 215.

“Anytime you can get guys on the award stand at State is a great, great tournament,” Head Coach Scott Patton says. “Both of them came in this season with goals to get down here, try to win a couple matches, and all of things went well. They were both able to accomplish that goal. So, super excited for those guys. Trevor’s a senior, last shot down here, to come out on the stand is great. He was a JV wrestler two years ago, qualified for state last year and was able to get to the podium this year. So great for him. Kolbe obviously is a freshman, to get down here and not only win matches, but to get to that third place match and he came up a little bit short, but wrestled his tail off all week.”

Senior Keaton Mulford at 150 and sophomore Trayvahn Williams at 285 each qualified, but didn’t place.

“Keaton has battled through a lot in his career. He had torn ACL last year, missed half the season with that. He did get to his 100th win this year, his senior year, and then he won a couple matches down here. I know he was super pumped for that. So excited for him, excited for Trayvahn. To be able to get down here, a sophomore at heavyweight, it’s a great accomplishment. I know he’s hungry for next year.”

Four seniors will depart the program.
