Teams from area businesses and organizations competed today at the Hampton Fareway store in the Franklin County Farm Bureau Breakfast Battle. There were a total of 10 teams, with 2 members each, that took part.
Teams started with an ag trivia competition to earn bonus time off their race total. Then they drew their grocery lists and had one minute to prepare their plan. After that, all was chaos for about 10 minutes as the teams raced around the Fareway store trying to purchase breakfast, dinner, and supper for a family of four based on the recipes provided.
They could pick up additional items trying to get their grocery totals between 55 and 60 dollars. All groceries were provided to the Franklin County Food Pantry and the La Luz Food Pantry, both in Hampton, and to the West Fork Food Pantry in Sheffield.
The traveling “Cereal Bowl” trophy this year went to the team of Jim Schonert and Mike Boarcherding representing Poet Biorefining.
