The NICL-West was represented at Saturday’s Iowa Girls Coaches Association Larry Niemeyer Senior All-Star Games at Cedar Falls High School.

Alli Sheldahl of South Hardin competed on the Class 2A White Team and Josie Kuper of AGWSR was on the 2A Gray Team. Kuper on the opportunity to represent her community and play one final basketball game.

“It was pretty exciting, another opportunity to represent AGWSR,” Kuper says. “I love our community. It’s a great community and we have so much support. I was really excited just to be able to play basketball one more time. I’m not going to Simpson anymore to play, so just getting out here and being able to do what I love one more time is a really great opportunity, really exciting.”

Each team had a short practice in the morning, followed by the games and some award ceremonies.

Sheldahl hopes she has set a good example for future South Hardin players as the program continues a steady climb.

“I think it’s really cool and I think it’s cool for younger girls to look up to us, and just knowing that the amount of hard work you put in pays off, and I think that it showed,” Sheldahl says. “It feels good leaving knowing that we put a good time in for that, and I think that the program’s up and we have some good players coming up, and I think it’s going to be fun to come back and watch them.”
