This week the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors approved a policy to implement security protocols for the front entrance to the courthouse in Mason City.

The policy states that all visitors to the courthouse will be screened for firearms and other dangerous weapons by going through a metal detector, with firearms being banned from the courthouse with appropriate signage being posted.

The changes will begin Tuesday, April 1st.

One armed security officer will be in the courthouse at all times during regular business hours.
