Wednesday, members of the Atlantic Coca-Cola Company honored Hampton-Dumont-CAL senior Isaac Vosburg, as one of 150 recipients across the United States of a $20,000 Coca-Cola scholarship as part of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program in a ceremony held at Hampton-Dumont High School.
Vosburg was one of approximately 105,000 seniors across the country to apply for the scholarship this year.
“The first time that I had heard about this was actually through my guidance counselors. They had put together a just a Google sheet that had all the scholarships that seniors were available to apply for and this was I mean one of the first and obviously the biggest that was on that list and so I had taken the time to just apply to that. The first phase is pretty straightforward just listing extracurriculars and involvements, activities a little bit of basic information about yourself and that’s kind of how it started off and it got a little bit more complex from there.”
Vosburg will attend the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia next week where he will meet the other 149 award recipients.
“It’s essentially a leadership conference. I mean, we put 150 of best and brightest kids from the US as Coke has worked to find. And so, yeah, the main draw there is this leadership conference and visiting Coke headquarters, experiencing, they had talked about it earlier, the world of Coke, right? Trying flavors from around the world. mean, there’s a ton of different opportunities, whether that be fun, whether that be connections that way. I think the thing I’m most excited for there is just to meet the other 149 kids from around the US and seeing what it is that drives them, what their interests are, what their passions are, and what got them to this position as well.”
With the addition of the 2025 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 7,050 Coke Scholars nationwide with over $87 million in scholarships over the course of 37 years.
