The Iowa House of Representatives this week passed two bills dealing with pipelines.

House File 943 says the transmission of CO2 does not have a public use and is not a public improvement.

House File 639 requires the company owning the pipeline to provide liability insurance for any accidents involving the pipeline, requires at least two members of the Iowa Utilities Commission to be present at every hearing, and limits the time it can take to get a permit.

This as the 2nd funnel deadline approaches which is on April 4th.

This is when bills in the Iowa Legislature have to be through one chamber and out of a committee in the opposite chamber in order to advance.

The 110th day of the current legislative session is May 2nd, this is when the per-diem expense money for lawmakers ends.
