One year ago, just under 10 percent of Iowa was drought free.

Looking back one year ago, almost 22 percent of Iowa was in a severe drought, and over 11 percent of Iowa was in an extreme drought. This week, neither of these categories are listed.
The latest report shows most of Iowa being shown as either being abnormally dry or in a moderate drought.
Nationwide, the estimated population in drought areas is over 123-million people.
