Lawmakers on a Senate Subcommittee in the Iowa Legislature amended and advanced a House bill Wednesday aimed at protecting private property rights from eminent domain.
The Iowa House last week passed proposed legislation that would prevent the Summit Carbon Solutions’ Pipeline from using eminent domain in the state.
Officials with Summit Carbon Solutions have been urging lawmakers to vote against any piece of legislation that in their opinion changes the rules in the middle of a project.
The bill advanced to the floor of the Iowa Senate following a vote taken by the Senate Commerce Committee.
