
The Aplington-Parkersburg and AP/DNH soccer teams each defeated GC-GR Thursday. At home, the boys won 6-2 and the girls won 4-2 in Reinbeck.
The United got on the board with two goals in the first half. The Rebels responded with two goals in the second half, but AP/DNH put the game out of reach with a strong half of four goals. Ty Luhring and Jackson Mulder scored twice; Conner Weedman and Aiden Merrill each added one goal. AP/DNH (2-0) will be at Hudson Monday.
It was an eventful first half of the girls game, where each team scored twice. But the Falcons gained the advantage with two more in the second half to pull away. Kiara Morris had two goals; Payten Ostercamp and Adri Allan each had one. AP (2-0) will return to action Monday by hosting Hudson for their home opener.
The boys tennis team began the season with a 5-4 home loss to Clear Lake. In singles, the Falcons got wins by Tyler Wedeking and Noah Harbaugh. Wedeking/Keegan Bolhuis and Harbaugh/Jonah Carney each won doubles matches. AP will return to action Friday, April 11 at St. Edmond.
In Friday action, the girls tennis team will open the season at Independence at 4:00 p.m.
