Tom Mangan was recently appointed as the next President and CEO of Sukup Manufacturing Company of Sheffield.

Mangan is the first non-Sukup family member to be President and CEO since the company was founded in 1963.

Mangan tells RadioOnTheGo News that he’s very aware of issues like tariffs and what impact that could have on the business.

“Priorities change sometimes on a day-to-day basis depending on what’s going on in the world. We’ve got a lot of conversation about tariffs. That does have some impact on us because we’ve got some great customers and dealers in Canada. Also, we’ve got a European subsidiary that we get product out to and then Mexico and Central America is also a big market for us. So lot of tariff concerns and outgoing product and then most of what we use in our product is made here in the U.S., all U.S. steel. There are a couple of downstream impacts on the supply chain.”

Mangan says Sukup Manufacturing continues to grow.

“Put up a new big building here in Sheffield. Over the past five years, we’ve grown to double the size of our Manly operation, into Clear Lake, into Hampton, acquired two companies and just in the past 15 months, I guess, in Ramco Innovations in West Des Moines. And then also just within the past few weeks, manufacturer of our bin stairs, Greene, down in Illinois. And so we continue to look for opportunities to grow and we’ll continue to do that.”

With the recent acquisitions, Sukup will employ over 800 people.
