This week the Grundy Center City Council voted 4-1 authorizing the mayor to sign an agreement with the Grundy County Memorial Hospital for onsite security with the police department.
The agreement is for one hour per night as a police officer will check in with the emergency department, walk the outdoor and indoor perimeter to check all doors, escort employees to the parking lot during shift changes, and assist with unruly patients if needed.
In other business, the Grundy Center City Council set April 21st to hold a public hearing on the city’s proposed next fiscal year budget, which will use a property tax levy rate of $16.24 per one thousand dollars of assessed property value.
