Bird flu found in Hardin County

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the USDA have detected a case of the avian influenza in a mixed species backyard flock in Hardin County.

This is Iowa’s 7th detection of the bird flu within domestic birds this year.

In the last 30 days, the USDA is reporting that across the country, there have been 9 confirmed cases of the bird flu in commercial flocks, 32 cases in backyard flocks, impacting 1-point-94 million birds.
