
Friday, at approximately 10:00 a.m. during a routine fire drill at the Eldora-New Providence Elementary School, a situation, involving an assault on a staff member by a student when working one-on-one, occurred. The school went into an immediate hallway clear status for caution.
In a press release sent Friday afternoon, South Hardin Superintendent Dr. Adam Zellmer, stated emergency services were then immediately contacted and responded on-site to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The staff member involved in the incident sustained injuries and received medical attention. Zellmer said “at no point were any students in immediate danger, and the school was secured according to safety protocols.”
Zellmer said a “full investigation is underway in collaboration with law enforcement, and appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will follow based on findings.”
Zellmer added that the school district is “grateful for the swift actions of local emergency responders, whose presence helped bring the situation under control quickly.”
