The Belmond City Council this week received an update on fundraising efforts for the swimming pool project from Lee Ann Waltzing.
Waltzing asked city officials if the city still had 185-thousand dollars in the budget for planning and design work, and the city administrator said the funds are still there.
Waltzing then informed the Belmond council of receiving 50-thousand dollars from the Iowa Specialty Hospital to put towards the pool project, along with 10-thousand dollars from the Hanson Family Foundation, and more grants are being worked on.
The committee working on the swimming pool project in Belmond has now raised 2-point-16-million dollars.
The Belmond City Council also set a public hearing on the city’s proposed next fiscal year budget for April 21st.
