Aplington-Parkersburg Spring Sports Update 4-15-25

The Aplington-Parkersburg tennis teams both defeated Iowa Falls-Alden in rain-shortened duals Monday. The boys won 6-2 at home and the girls won 7-0 on the road.

In the boys meet, Tyler Wedeking at #2 singles recorded the most lopsided win at 8-0. The Falcons will return to action Thursday by hosting #7 (1A) Decorah.

The #10 (1A) girls tennis team won all singles and a doubles match before the final two were cut short due to rain. The Falcons (3-1) will host #3 (1A) Dike-New Hartford (2-0) Tuesday at 4:15 at the ARC.

The boys golf team won a home dual against Denver 156-180. The Falcons had the top four scores, including Caleb Campbell and Benny Waller tying for medalist honors with 38 strokes. Their next meet will be Thursday at South Hardin.

The boys track & field team placed seventh with 63 points at the East Marshall Boys Invite. Top performers:
4×400 – 1st
4×800 – 1st
Distance medley – 2nd
Sprint medley – 3rd
Titan Verrett – 3rd in 400
Their next meet will be Thursday at Hudson.

The AP/DNH soccer team defeated Northeast Iowa United 10-0 at home. They scored eight goals in the first half and added two in the second half to end the game early. Ty Luhring and Preston Janssen each scored three goals. Dax Weedman, Aiden Merrill, Conner Weedman and Gage Johnson each scored once. The United (5-1) will return to action Thursday, April 24 at Denver.

In Tuesday action, the girls soccer team will have a tall task at #1 (1A) Denver. It’ll start at 5:30. The girls track & field team will compete at the Hudson Relays at 4:30.
