The Iowa Falls-Alden girls soccer team endured its first loss of the season Monday, falling at home to #1 (2A) Waverly-Shell Rock 8-0. Their next game will be Thursday at Webster City on 99 The Wave.

The girls tennis team fell at home to Aplington-Parkersburg 7-0 in a rain-shortened meet. They’ll host Webster City Tuesday at 4:30.

The boys tennis team fell 6-2 at Aplington-Parkersburg, where the last match ended early due to rain. Head Coach Anne Plagge says it was a close match that could’ve gone either way.

“It was the entire match, that was our third doubles team, which was Carson Allen and Keaton Mulford, and they were playing a good game,” Plagge says. “We always get some non-conference play that gives us some good competition. Although the score didn’t come out like you might want it to some nights, I saw the guys really make a lot of adjustments after their singles matches, and then that showed up in their doubles matches, and we were able to win a lot more of those games and then get a couple of points out of our doubles matches.”

The wins were by Carson Allen at #6 singles and Brayden Moestchen/Lane Madden at #2 doubles. Their next meet will be Tuesday at Webster City at 4:30.

The golf teams will host non-conference triangulars with Baxter and Colo-Nesco. The boys will play at Highland Golf Club and the girls will be at Meadow Hills Golf Course. Both will start at 4:30.

The boys track & field team will host teams from several conferences for the Gerry Lenguadoro Cadet Relays at 5:00. The girls will be at the Cowgirl Relays at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at 4:30.
