The North Butler boys track and field team will be at the Gerry Lenguadoro Cadet Relays hosted by Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday. The Bearcats, last time out, placed fifth at Hudson on Thursday. The Bearcats had six top three placers, including Ezra Almelien in the 1600m (2nd) and 3200m (1st), Trager Pecha in the 1600m (3rd), Alex Almelien in 800m (3rd), Clayton Towsley in the high jump (3rd) and the shuttle hurdle relay team (2nd).
Head Coach Kirk Clark on seeing cross country runners translate their skills to track season.
“It’s amazing what the kids do and how much they run. Those distance runners, they just keep going and going and going,” says Clark. “We do some workouts on the track, they do it and they know it’s important. They respect me and I really respect them. It’s been a good time and I really enjoy it.”
The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m.
The girls track and field team was scheduled to compete at Saints Relays at Saint Ansgar on Monday, but it was cancelled. The Bearcats’ last meet was Thursday at the Lady Bulldog relays at Hampton-Dumont-CAL. The Bearcats had four top 5 finishes, including Alexis Rose was fourth in the 100m hurdles, Izzy O’Dowd was fifth in the discus, Addison Ulrich was fifth in the high jump and the shuttle hurdle relay team placed second. North Butler is scheduled to compete at Osage on Tuesday. The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The golf teams were scheduled to host a triangular on Monday, but the meet was postponed. The Bearcats are scheduled to return to the course for a triangular at Osage on Thursday.
