The West Fork girls track and field team will travel to Cowgirl Relays hosted by Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Tuesday. The Warhawks, last time out, finished in third place at Lady Bulldog Relays at Hampton-Dumont-CAL on Thursday. The Warhawks had five events finish in the top three, including Keara Wood in the high jump (1st), the 4×400 (2nd), the 4×800 (3rd), Brylee Dickman in the shot put (3rd), Evie Hitzhusen in the 400m hurdles (3rd).

Head Coach Ashley Sears on competition training and teammate support.

“We have been really focusing on trying to do a lot of lactic training and getting everybody’s speed, no matter what type of runner they are, getting them to be quicker. Everybody needs to have speed, no matter if they’re running in the 100 or they need to be able to sprint the 1500 to finish and beat somebody. We’ve been focusing on that a lot,” says Sears. “We make sure to require everybody to stay for the last event. This is a team event. We want everybody cheering everybody on even till the 4×400 is over. I think they’ve kind of bought into that and it’s a pretty good climate so far.”

The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Warhawk boys track and field team were scheduled to compete at Saints Relays hosted by Saint Ansgar on Monday, but the meet was cancelled. The Warhawks had two competitors at the Cowboy Relays on Thursday finish as champions in two events apiece, Trevor Despenas in the 200m and 400m and Xavier Haller in the high jump and 400m hurdles. The Warhawks are scheduled to return to action at Gerry Lenguadoro Cadet Relays in Iowa Falls on Tuesday. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The girls and boys golf teams were scheduled to take the course at North Butler for a triangular on Monday, but the meet was postponed. The Warhawks will face Hampton-Dumont-CAL in split dual meets on Tuesday. The West Fork boys will host the Bulldogs at Ridge Stone Golf Club and the girls will play at Hampton Country Club. Tee off is at 4:15 p.m.
