Five Local Teams with Multiple Top Placings at Cowgirl Relays on Tuesday

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track and field team hosted their annual Cowgirl Relays on Tuesday and several local teams took part. Iowa Falls-Alden was third, C-G-D was fourth and Hampton-Dumont-CAL was sixth in Class A. West Fork finished runner-up and Belmond-Klemme was sixth in Class B. 

Champions and Top Performers:

Iowa Falls-Alden (Class A)
1st in 100m hurdles, Isabelle Janssen
2nd in shot put, Alivia Tupper
1st in distance medley relay
2nd in shuttle hurdle relay

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (Class A)
1st in 400m hurdles, Makayla Beisel
1st in high jump, Makayla Beisel
2nd in 100m hurdles, Makayla Beisel
2nd in long jump, Makayla Beisel

C-G-D Senior Makayla Beisel on final home meet and balancing a four event night.

“It was definitely nice to go out there in front of a bunch of people that I know, that love to come and support our family and our community. Definitely nice to compete on home turf,” says Beisel. “First and foremost tackle endurance and work on technique. Move on from the last event, always focus on what’s happening in the now. Work on time management and just take it one at a time.”

“Not as good as I was hoping but I’m just trying to work out some kinks right now. I am working on those little things for when I do get to Drake I can throw that big throw,” says Morton. “I know maybe right now I’m not throwing as far as I want but it’s just those little things to get that big throw at Drake.”

West Fork Sophomore Evie Hitzhusen on benefit of running in fall and cheering on teammates.

“Running cross country helps me stay in shape for track. It’s not my favorite, but it helps me and it’s a good exercise for you,” says Hitzhusen. “It’s so fun watching everybody else run, cheering them on and seeing them smile while you’re cheering. It’s like the best thing ever just to be there for them cheering.”
