A former therapist at the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora was sentenced Tuesday on a charge of solicitation to commit a felony, the felony being solicited was sex with a student.
41-year-old Sarah Jean Perry was arrested in November of 2023 and was originally charged with solicitation to commit a felony, with sexual exploitation by a school employee, and with sexual misconduct with an offender. The state had alleged that Perry provided contraband to as many as 7 residents she was engaging in sexual acts with.
Perry was sentenced to 5-years in prison, with that sentence suspended, placed on 5-years of probation, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,025.
In addition, she received an additional “special sentence” of 10-years, which is a type of parole or work release, that she will be supervised by the Iowa Department of Corrections for the program.
The other two charges were dismissed by the court.
