Four Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports teams will be in action Thursday.
The boys golf team will join Oelwein at a triangular hosted by South Hardin at Pine Lake Country Club. The Falcons will go on the road for the first time after winning two home meets to start the season. Head Coach Gary Flanigan says senior Caleb Campbell, a returning state qualifier, has been a great role model.
“You get kids to go to state, you kind of see what it takes, and our kids can kind of compare themselves with him and where they need to be,” Flanigan says. “He does a great job in our drills. He takes his time and he focuses on each one of those, and that’s a great role model. He just doesn’t come around and dink around, he takes things seriously. He understands what it takes to get better, and a big part of that is our short game, and that’s where we spend most of our time in our practices. He has a good focus and it’s a great role model to have him there.”
It’ll start at 4:15.
The boys tennis team will host #8 (1A) Decorah for a non-conference dual. AP is 2-1 and Decorah is 5-0. It’ll start at 4:30 at the ARC.
Both track & field teams will compete. The boys will be at Hudson at 4:30 and the girls will be at Dike-New Hartford at 4:45.
