Brent Thoren has stepped down as the head coach of the Grundy Center boys basketball program. His resignation was accepted by the school board at its most recent meeting.
He led the program for three seasons, having started in the 2022-2023 season. During that span, he led the Spartans to state tournament appearances in 2024 and 2025. The team’s record in those seasons was 58-13. Thoren was recognized with NICL-West Coach of the Year honors in each season.
This year’s team went 22-3 and advanced to the Class 2A quarterfinals.
