Aplington-Parkersburg Spring Sports Update – 4-23-25

The Aplington-Parkersburg girls track & field team was the champion at the Alburnett Coed Relays Tuesday. They scored 135 points, well ahead of Maquoketa Valley’s 111.5. Medalists:
Kennedy Kalkwarf – 1st in 800
Distance medley – 1st
Shuttle hurdle relay – 1st
Payten Ostercamp – 1st in 3000
Quinnlyn Schultz – 2nd in 800
4×100 – 2nd
4×200 – 2nd
4×400 – 2nd
Ava Eddy – 2nd in 100 hurdles
Avery Freund – 2nd in high jump
Caylee Harken – 2nd in discus
Payten Ostercamp – 3rd in 1500
Sprint medley – 3rd
Eva Walker – 3rd in long jump
Caylee Harken – 3rd in shot put
They’ll have a week off before a home meet on Tuesday, April 29.

The boys track & field team placed seventh at the Wolverine Invitational at Dike-New Hartford. Medalists:
4×200 – 1st
4×400 – 2nd
Distance medley – 2nd
They’ll be back in action Thursday at BCLUW.

The boys golf team shot its best score of the season, but endured its first loss Tuesday at Legend Trail. Columbus Catholic won 142-148. Mick Steege was the individual champion with 31 strokes, five under par. They’ll return to action Thursday by hosting Union.

The #10 (1A) girls tennis team won 9-0 at Waverly-Shell Rock. At 5-2, they’ll return to action Thursday at #7 (1A) Columbus Catholic.

The boys tennis team fell 9-0 at home to Waverly-Shell Rock. The closest they got to a win was Kaidyn Purdy at #2 singles, who fell 11-9 in a set 3 tiebreaker. At 3-3, they’ll return to action Thursday at Columbus Catholic.
