Saturday the Rowan City Council held a special meeting, and was informed that the city had been contacted by the vendor working with the city on a water meter project.
The vendor told city officials that if Rowan did not purchase the remaining water meters before the month of May, the price will have to change due to the new tariffs being implemented.
The Rowan council then voted to order the remaining water meters now.
The Rowan City Council also received information concerning the General Fund CD. It matured on April 14th, and the city clerk and the mayor had it put into a savings account instead of allowing it to automatically renew.
The Rowan council voted to use those funds to cover the purchase of the water meters, and can discuss the remainder going back into a CD at a later date.
